One out of three older adults fall each year. Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries. Our loved ones are getting older every day and will ultimately be faced with a battle with mobility.
If you’re tired of watching your loved ones struggle with getting in and out of bed or afraid of them falling, then the step2rest is for you. The step2rest is designed to make the process of getting in and out of bed easier and safer.
The step2rest is the first product designed specifically for seniors to address these issues. Step2Rest can help senior citizens remain independent and prevent falls and injuries.
Stop worrying about your loved ones, help them live a happier, healthier, and more independent life. Get peace of mind with step2rest.
The step2rest is designed by a nurse who specializes in dealing with patients who struggle with mobility. It combines the functions of a step stool and a bed rail to make the safest and most efficient way into and out of bed.
Most step stools on the market are small and designed for household chores, not daily use; typically they are about 10”x10”. The step2rest’s super-wide landing base is 2 ½ ft wide and 12” deep. The super-wide landing base makes it usable for everyone, with enough room to stand comfortably with both feet on the platform. This is essential for a product that prevents injuries from falls.
Other bedrails go alongside the bed, which is good for containment, but blocks the entrance of the bed! Meaning, when the rail is up, you have to enter/exit the bed at the foot of the bed and then climb up to your resting position. For seniors, this is not always easy to do and as you age, it only becomes more challenging. The step2rest provides the safety of a bed rail but creates a pathway of entry to enter/exit the bed at the position you plan to sleep. This is a more practical and efficient.
My name is Vincent Baiera, I grew up in Northeast Ohio and currently live in San Diego, CA.
After obtaining my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Robert Morris University, I started my career at The Cleveland Clinic in their Cardiovascular ICU, the #1 Heart Center in the world. Eventually, I started working as a traveling registered nurse and worked at 15 different hospitals across the U.S. and U.S. Virgin Islands.
In 2012 I started my own Health Consulting business where I work with individuals in preventative health and weight loss. After seeing my business grow I decided to transition out of nursing and I accepted a part time teaching position at Central Nursing College and soon afterwards was appointed Director of Education.
While I enjoyed that experience, my focus has now been on helping more people and that is what the step2rest has the ability to do. Since 2014, we have been designing and redesigning this model to make improvements and changes.
